A: No, SEVHS is not a free clinic. SEVHS is a community health center that offers primary care to everybody. SEVHS accepts patients with or without health insurance. Payments for services are based upon a sliding fee scale.
A: It is a discount. A sliding fee scale means that your payment is based upon your household income and family size. To apply for the sliding fee scale, you are required to show proof of household income by providing two current pay stubs or a W-2 form. If you have no household income, you must attest to that fact in writing.
A: No, there are no current residential restrictions. SEVHS sees patients from many communities throughout Virginia.
A: Yes, SEVHS accepts uninsured as well as underinsured patients. Your fees will be calculated according to a sliding fee scale, which is based upon your household income and family size.
A: Yes, we are accepting new patients.
A: Simply call any one of our offices to schedule an appointment.
A: SEVHS offices are located in the following areas: Newport News, Hampton, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Suffolk, Franklin, and Mathews County.
A: You should bring a government-issued picture identification card that is unexpired, your insurance card if insured, current medications or a list of any medications that you are currently taking and, of course, your nominal fee. To apply for the sliding fee scale, you must bring your last 2 pay stubs or other proof of household income. Plan on arriving for your appointment at least 30 minutes early to complete the patient registration process.
A: SEVHS accepts as payment: cash, checks, Master and Visa credit cards, and debit cards only when used as a credit.
A: We need to receive a medical records release form signed by you before your records can be released. You may also be able to pick up your records in person, however, please allow sufficient time for your records to be retrieved and printed as same-day requests cannot always be fulfilled. You should have your photo id ready when picking up your records in person. You may also incur a small fee when you opt to pick up your records in person.
Yes, we can perform pregnancy tests.
A: Yes, we can perform these tests, however, you must make an appointment to see a physician who will then be able to order these tests. Also, you may wish to consider contacting your local Health Department who can also perform these tests often at no charge.
A: If we are able to accommodate same-day appointments we certainly will. Call to check the schedule availability.
A: Yes, we have Spanish interpreters at many of our locations. Please ask if you need to speak to someone that speaks Spanish.

The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit, national body that oversees the safety and quality of health care and other services provided to accredited organizations.
